Position Summary:

Reporting to the Vice President for Enrollment, the Assistant Director will plan, design, implement, and execute specific strategies as part of the enrollment goals of the University. The Assistant Director will recruit prospective students, interview applicants and review admissions applications and credentials. Using data and research, the Assistant Director is responsible for developing targeted recruitment initiatives within an assigned territory. The Assistant Director manages communication planning within the assigned caseload and oversees client relationships utilizing multiple communication channels. The Assistant Director participates in various recruitment-related events and projects and may coordinate and conduct one or more specialized admissions function.
 

Typical Schedule:

The schedule is varied. During office coverage a 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday. When traveling for admissions activities, schedule is varied. May have to work numerous weekends and holidays and be subject to overnight travel.
As an exempt employee the schedule may vary based on the number of hours needed to meet the job responsibilities. This position may require early morning, evening, and weekend hours to meet the needs of the department/university. This position is predominantly on site at the Rindge, NH campus.

Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions of the Position:

 
  • Establish with Vice President, performance expectations including recruitment goals within an assigned territory.
  • Represent Franklin Pierce University as a student recruiter within a designated geographic area: visit high schools to meet with school counselors and students, attend college fairs, and develop useful professional contacts.
  • Meet with prospective students to determine motivation, interest, and ability to qualify for admission to Franklin Pierce University.
  • Manage and execute phone, text, and email communication to all stakeholders including students, parents, school counselors and others for the purpose of information gathering, task completions and relationship building.
  • Track student enrollment status, review their records and application data and maintain ongoing contact with prospective students and parents to motivate and inspire enrollment at Franklin Pierce University. Provide timely and accurate response to questions and request for information.
  • Establish relationship with a variety of internal and external constituents such as faculty, marketing staff, high school counselors, principals, and local community members to provide relevant counsel, to plan, coordinate and evaluate activities, exchange information and to resolve problems.
  • Develop and organize a travel strategy and manage a travel budget.
  • Develop an understanding and knowledge of admissions data relative to funnel management.
  • Analyze recruitment data to make assessment of progress towards enrollment goals. Identify recommendations and take actions to remediate recruitment trends that are not tracking towards desired goals.
  • Regularly assess and report on outcomes of activities undertaken, providing key measures and benchmarks whenever possible.
  • Stay current with Franklin Pierce University programs, policies, and procedures to provide accurate information about academic and athletic programs, student services, financial aid, among other programs and services.
  • Assist the Vice President or other senior admissions personnel in planning and implementing various Admissions programs and systems.
  • Perform various administrative tasks such as maintaining logs and other records of activities, preparing reports and scheduling travel.
  • Participate in the application file review process.
  • May coordinate and conduct one or more specialized admissions functions, such as serving as athletic liaison, and processing applications from non-traditional students (transfer, international students etc.).
  • May assist in training newly hired admissions staff.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Incumbent must be able to successfully complete a background check and possess a clean, valid driver's license. Incumbents must have the ability to travel.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Previous Experience: Higher education experience in an enrollment setting desired or experience in a sales and/ or marketing position. Demonstrated use of technology to achieve goals efficiently and effectively. Must be able to work independently, be productive and competent in a busy work environment that demands strong organizational and multi-tasking skills. Persuasive written and verbal skills required for effective communication with students, parents, school counselors and University colleagues. Experience speaking to groups, large and small highly desirable. Experience in multicultural settings desirable.

Knowledge and Education: Bachelor's degree required, master's degree desirable or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.   Machines, Tools, Equipment, Electronic Devices and Software: Incumbent must possess knowledge of Microsoft software - Word, Excel, and Outlook. Proficiency with CRM programs, MS Office, and social media desired.

License(s) and Certificate(s): Valid U.S. Driver's License.

Physical Activity/Effort: Incumbent must be physically able to lift various materials up to 25 pounds on an occasional basis. While performing required job tasks, physically able to remain seated, frequently to continuously. While performing required job tasks, physically able to remain standing up to 15% of the time. Possesses dexterity abilities required to perform typing, operate a computer and other office equipment, to perform filing, and related job responsibilities. Ability to drive for long periods of time.
